AMCD Condemns Mass Shooting
March 19, 2019
The American Mideast Coalition for Democracy unconditionally condemns the horrid mass shooting of unarmed worshippers at the Al Noor and Linwood Masjid mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. The shooter claimed he did it to avenge the killing of children in previous jihadist attacks, but how can still more killing of innocent children possibly be justified? How can blood wash away blood? The murderer was clearly a psychotic person, someone who most probably would have found another reason to kill.
AMCD’s Vice Chairman, Hossein Khorram, sends AMCD’s sympathies to New Zealand Muslims, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and all of those who call New Zealand their home for this act of terror which left 50 innocent dead and countless others injured. Khorram went on to say, “No act of terror could ever be justified against anyone, whether Muslim, Christian or Jew.”
AMCD is a true example of co-existence and a testimony of American exceptionalism – a place where Middle Eastern Americans, representing most religions and races from the turbulent Middle East, advance our common political agenda in peace and harmony.
Dr Walid Phares, AMCD adviser, told Fox News that "jihadism feeds violent Islamophobia and the latter feeds jihadism. They are like two sides of the same coin." He added, "As we are learning about the extremist's plans and ideologies, we can underline that a vast international coalition of Western and Muslim countries can defeat both of them."
AMCD stands firmly against all violence and calls for prayers for the injured, the dead, and for their loved ones left behind in grief.
